I agree with all that, Don! I've also been thinking lately about the amazingly slow progress in UK of IT as a normal everyday resource for teaching and learning in schools: we're still far from there, after decades of national effort and squillions of taxpayer pounds! All the factoprs you mention - plus inertia and lack of interest in various relevant quarters - militate against rapid assimilation of new styles of education. Yet every youngster now seems born with a cellphone in his/her mouth and the ability to use it in ways adults can't imagine ... not just in developed countries either!
