Any other ideas? > Here is what we did in WLM-IR in 2016: For the top 10 photos, we did the following: * manually checked the licenses * did a quick eyeballing on the meta data in Commons to see possible issues that can be immediately spotted. * used https://ctrlq.org/google/images/ to look for similar photos available on the internet. The above is not a good approach, it's too manual for things that (at least partly) machines can do better than humans, but in the absence of other technical solutions it was better than not doing any check in our case. Moving forward, this kind of checks should become more embedded as parts of the systems WLM interacts with, as much as possible. For example, it may be possible and desirable to have Montage surface relevant information that would allow the coordinators or jurors flag possible issues. And/or, this can be handled on Commons end. One thing that I want to encourage is that if there is interest to work on addressing this problem, we don't do this as a one off service/tool that solves this one specific problem without taking into account the rest of the WLM ecosystem. Instead, we can spec out how the possible tool/service will interact with other tools or services that already are or becoming part of WLM infrastructure.
