A little late into the discussion I just want to note that aside from the factual reservations, which seem to make sense, the overall tone, context and setting of the WMF Annual report is something I wholeheartedly agree with, and I feel that it conveys a sense of urgency on a few fronts that could benefit from more truthfulness.
The world looks quite different when you're contributing to Wiki projects just kilometers away from the bloody civil war in Syria, in a country where freedom of speech is continuously threatened. I for one am happy to be a part of a Movement that will not stay silent in the face of "post-truths" and the growing impediments to basic civic (and other) freedoms. If this is considered a political statement, so be it.
