This is a much better idea than putting up banners which people learn to tune out. For me, not only do I not read them anymore, but it's gotten to the point now that I don't even notice whether there's even a banner up. If we were to do this, we should make sure that people are aware upon opting out of the beta feature that their preference will only be respected until it's graduated.
