As per Hugh and Kylde's response Get the retail version of Nero if you want to run multiple drives Bundled versions of Nero are (in my experience) specialised to only run the single drive with which they were supplied.

And why would you need 2 instances of NERO? I have all manner of CD/RW/DVD-R drives and all run perfectly well with nero 4, 5, & now 6. DOn't worry - uninstall whatever version you have and install Nero 6 then update to 6.0.8.0 or later to get the double layer DVD options. No problems.
