I wouldn't hold my breath; what it actually says is:

"Given its time frame, the "Start Something" campaign will serve as a run up
to the debut of Longhorn, the next version of Windows, which is set to go on
sale by next year's holiday shopping season."

Notice the NEXT YEAR, as in 2006? That also ties in with the 15 month ad
campaign. As you say, it gives a hint, but it is still a long way out.

Subject: [WINHOME] Software: Microsoft plans massive Windows ad campaign

Even though Windows XP has been on the market for more than three years,
Microsoft is hoping a new advertising campaign will "start something"
when it comes to enthusiasm for the operating system.

Guess what guys and gals the article gives a hint as to when Longhorn
will be released which is to say will be
at or around the big annual shopping season and of course we all know
when that is. ;) Don't tell anyone that Santa told me. ;)
