There is no such thing as private unless it's off list.
The solution to BIOS passwords I was thinking about will only work if access to a CD or floppy drive is available, a straight reboot won't work if a system password has been set. Sorry if I mislead.
I still don't think a BIOS password would keep anyone out for long, suppose it depends on one's opinion of what constitutes 'long'? That said, it's a while since I tried to clear a new BIOS, maybe things are different now?
Hey, if I've got 30 whole minutes I could open the case & reset the cmos so put a padlock on the case or enable the case alarm system if your system has this capability then chain the whole thing to the floor and make sure you lock your office door on the way out.
The level of security only matters on how important the data is. If your CC #'s or your identity is not important than don't use any security but don't wine about how insecure computers or Winders is unless you use all the security features 1st. Hey if the machine is only used to type a few letters of a non critical nature then the heck with security unless it has access to the corporate network then all bets are off.
