Asus told me that the board has a 3 year warranty. Asus seemed to roll out the red carpet for me, their ASI customer.
Baloney, are you naive. Almost all mombo manufacturers have retail [warranty 3yr] & oem [warranty varies] versions of their boards. I can get any ASUS retail board & get the same kind of treatment from Asus as you have. As a matter of fact I did on my A7V333 but Asus also lied saying that the memory bus speed would increase from 266 to 333 mhz via a bios upgrade & that was BS as they issued a newer version of the board, rev 1 screwing many people in the process. It all comes down to money.
I was sent to Asus by ASI. One of the 2 had to replace the motherboard or both might lose my business. One small OEM who does a $50,000. to $100,000. in business per year gets some respect. For those who do not like to build computers, ASI sells custom built white boxes, also.
Why when I can buy ASUS retail boards from Mwave for less than I can from ASI. Joe User use to say he wouldn't buy Gigabyte boards because they only had one yr warranties but every retail Gigabyte board that I've bought has had 3 yr warranty on them. Personally I've never had a mombo go out between year 1 & 3 anyway.
Was that board you sent into ASUS a customer's board or yours ? Did you make the customer wait for ASUS ? In my case it was 3 weeks before I even heard a word & it was 5 weeks before I got the board back. I can't wait that long & most of my clients don't want to either. Many people go with Dell because of the warranty service that they can get like next business day. Can you do that with a bad mobo? I bet not. Hey, bad boards happen to every manufacturer at one time or another. Personally I can see why customers like being able to have their system back up the next business day.
