As a member of the British community that "founded" or "ruled" your great land if it makes you feel any better we have had unrestricted access for a lot longer.......... almost the year dot and "we" passed the same freedom to you. However, we are also victims of this crap ID card system and I am sure it will be law very soon as the rest of euro land (EEC) is debating it now and France (who think they own the "Common Market or EEC) have had the ID system for years. Spain and Germany (understandably!!!) have an ID card system too. As you are well aware if you've ever watched a spy movie - James Bond, Bourn Identity etc Passports & IDs are practically useless. Just like the anti gun lobby over there. Somebody shot a couple of kids in school and a teacher over here and John Major (our PM at the time) banned all hand guns from private ownership (we did have pretty liberal gun laws here but only for sporting purposes and I had quite an armory! Since that time more people have been shot by persons that had illegally held guns prior and since that act of parliament than have ever been shot by anyone having a legally owned weapon so banning guns does not stop the killing as having ID cards stops the terrorist just that when they are shot we know who they might be?
