Windows installer needs to be repaired....

Subject: Word won't load a file!
Reinstalled Office 10 (XP) and while everything now works, I get two strange
things occurring when I click on a DOC file or an XLS file.
1) A window pops up saying "Wait while Windows configures Office 2000"
2) The application loads but it doesn't open the file.
If I go back and click onthe DOC or XLS file a second time, there's no
message and it loads as expected.
Any thoughts???
