Subject: Re: Backup for XP/Home
I'm going to have to see if I can find the CD. This is a Compaq laptop
and I don't recall seeing an actual XP install CD among the junk it came
with, but I'll double chec.. thanks!
If laptops are like desktops, you won't find one.
I have found that most HP's, Compaq's, eMachines have only the factory
reinstall CD.
I have found that Dell and Gateway often furnish a Windows XP CD.
Also, if you do a format job and clean install on a Dell or Gateway,
most likely you have computer manufacturer furnished software for
applications and drivers.
Is that softwareon the reinstall CD or on another the manufacturer supplies
Not true with a HP, Compaq or eMachine. They most likely require you
to run their recovery CD to recover those applications and drivers.
Do you run it before you reformat and reinstall?
Thx.
