Use the Windows setup routine to create partitions and format them. When you get to the screen where you select a partition for the install, you also have options to delete the existing partitions. DELETE THEM ALL.
Then create one or more new partitions from the same setup screen. I am trying to set up a new W2000 HD. I formatted the drive using PM 8. I put the drive in the computer to install W2000. It goes through the initial setup. Then comes the screen to pick the partition to install on. When I pick the partition, I get this message " This disk does not contain a Windows 2000 compatible partition" It recognizes all three partitions but none of them are compatible. What am I doing wrong? As a check on formatting I reformatted one of the partitions using DOS. Still no luck.
