Version of word? You should be able to use the paste tag to use destination
formatting or use Edit, paste special.
Where do you get the text from? If html, it's a conversion process that takes
the extra time - you might want to try puretext to remove formatting before
pasting.
The word feature you should look into using is styles - then you just need to
select and apply the style.

I have a "template" (actually a saved document) that I use almost
daily, by cutting and pasting information into/onto it.
One area of the document is a line that contains item numbers,
description and price. I have it set to a certain font and size.
When I highlight it to paste the copied information, it copies
just fine......and immediately.
A few lines below is an area of three or four lines that contain
shipping information.
There is the culprit!
1. It takes forever for the copied text to paste
2. It doesn't paste the proper sized text, so I have to highlight,
bold, and resize it. It does, really infrequently, do it correctly.
Perhaps I should try working with something that Word provides,
but I have what I want. I just want to make it work.
