I did that but I am still left with a drive letter assigned to that unused partition. PM8 does allow resizing the partition, but when merging in windows it says " error 4 while executing batch error 4 bad argument/parameter" .

2. Resize smaller partition to as small as it can be.
3. Slide one partition to make free space from step (2) adjacent to the
upper end of the larger partition.
4. Resize larger partition to use free space made available.
5. Repeat from step 1 until smaller partition is eliminated.

This will not be fast and will work better if the smaller partition is the
2nd partition.

It may be easier to remove the drive from the external case and plug it into
the computer as an internal drive, so that you can use the PM8 merge
feature.
