As the cliche goes "thanks for that" - disabling the muse pad in the BIOS on
(older) Gateway DID fix my "crazy mouse" problem.  Maybe I tossed that
docking station needlessly, where the "crazy Mouse" syndrome started :-))

I'll keep watching for jumping cursor as well - maybe it is all fixed now
:-)

Seems at one time both the mouse and pad got along, but can't say for sure.
I have not used the laptop much, until recently, when I got interested in
Wi-Fi.

PS In typing this note, the cursor has not jumped even once, so maybe they
are related.
