I think the problem is that we're talking about two *separate* things.  
Quicken has a notion of a 'recurring' payment, which is really just a 
reminder.. if you want to actually 'enter' the payment each month or 
whenever, you need to go online and upload it [as Pete has mentioned and 
you allude to].

BUT: it *also* has a "repeating" payment mechanism as part of its online 
billpay where the repeating payment _IS_ uploaded and _does_ happen 
automatically [just as Jim was asking about].  It works beautifully and 
requires *NO* additional actions by Quicken monthly or at any other time 
for the payments just to keep being pumped out.

I've never found any reason to use QUicken's "recurring" payment 
mechanism, since the "repeating" payment mechanism did what I wanted with 
no fuss, no muss...
