The common DVD blanks hold 4.5g or ~ 7 CDs worth of data.
Does a DVD burner write to CDs too?
Yes & I have an external firewire DVD burner that I do backups to.
Another nice thing is I can display movies on it as well. Just
remember that not everyone has firewire so when you get an external
drive you may want to get the USB/Firewire model for compatibility
with more systems unless you don't care about other systems. I won't
have a system without firewire. I had to get a Firewire PCMCIA card
for my laptop. I can plug in a video camera to the firewire port &
capture video directly plus XP has Firewire Network drivers built in.
