However, it doesn't make sense for a machine to have RAM slots in two

No Wayne the slot door leads nowhere - the non-removable 256Mb base memory
is under it protected by a tin shield whose edges extend under the base
plate thus rendering it equally non-movable! - it may as well not be there!
Clearly the answer must lie under the keyboard - there are no other
doors/flaps or other means of ingress.
