I am seriously considering going with Vonage and dumping my land phone line.
I have cable broadband and I'm tired of paying inflated dollars for a weak
product. I have stripped down, basic telephone service from Qwest and with
all the taxes it is more than what I'll pay if I go with Vonage which will
give a ton of features.
My question is related to routers. I have a wired system using a Dlink
DI-808HV router. Vonage has a few different offerings for getting voIP.
(Linksys RTP300 or WRTP54G). There are other offerings for voIP from other
network product manufacturers as well. Can I select a different device
other than that offered through Vonage? Am I buying a bunch of headaches by
installing a wireless router tied to the wired router to get voIP? I can
see where a wireless access for a laptop would be great but I'm unsure if
I'm installing additional headaches and security problems.
Anyone have any views, do's or don'ts about this?
