Sounds likes lots on this list don't care for the registry cleaners. I've
bought and used the MaceCraft utilities for years. You might check them
out. The price is pretty reasonable. I've never had a problem with
Macecraft wacking out the registry and I've never had a problem with
introduction of crapware by using their utilities.

The problem with being an engineer is that sometimes you don't know when to
say it's ok to leave remnants behind. I hate a messy system. So I've
religiously used these utilities.

I'm sorry to say but in my experience most of those free tools are
just another way to get spyware on your system. I had to clean a
client's system up just last week that ran a registry cleaner. It
cleaned it alright. After he ran it he kept getting pop unders that
wouldn't go away with IE's popup blocker nor would they disappear
after running Ad Aware, Spywareblaster or Spybot S&D. I had to edit
the registry to get rid of the tool. Make sure you trust who ever it
is into your system because once they're in they can be heck to get rid of.
