On the Plextor manual it's said that a jumper on the back
is for DMA setting. It says:

DMA jumper: Use the DMA jumper to convert between
UltraDMA Mode 0-2 (no jumper, default) and Multiword
DMA Mode 0-2 (with jumper installed). In general, leave
this jumper at its factory setting, which is Ultra DMA
(that is, no jumper installed).

Should I install the jumper?

Last minute just before sending mail:

I installed on that enclosure an old Plextor cdrw, a Plexwriter 2410
and it's recognized immediately. The problem to be solved is with
the new Plextor DVD itself.
