Not to criticise, but, one of the problems with these particular
mainboard capacitors is the, "Effective Series Resistance" The
additional wire length, whilst only 6mm or so, will degrade the ESR by
as much as 20 or 30% !! In turn this will reduce the effective
capacitance.
There is little or no leeway available to increase the lead length by
using this technique to repair a mainboard. At the higher bus speed,
ie 133MHz it may cause instability and processor error under load.
At 200 or 233MHz and higher it becomes even more critical.
Using a vacumn pump, you can easily clear the holes to use a capacitor
fitted normally. That is fitted flush to the surface of the PCB.
Otherwise !! Good for you. At least it buys you some time to do a
proper job !!!
