Hi,

IMHO, you would spend less time & energy if you got rid of NIS & installed something else! When I bought my Tosh LT last month, it had NIS on it (for a while ;-). Running eTrust Internet Security Suite now - not free (special offer tho!), but very efficient. What does you friend want to do in 3 months, when NIS has to be paid for, assuming he didn't buy the thing already? In my case, the un-install was unusually painless.

If it were my computer, that's exactly what I'd do. And if he continues to have problems, I'll suggest it to him.

However, he was on the phone for 1.5 hours with the Circuit City tech support contractor and they had him change a couple of things but he doesn't remember what they were. I'll drop by later today and see if I can figure it out.
