What ports are you using at Google? (Gmail)
This is exactly why they have the other ports available...
You are describing port 25 blocking to a "T"...

did not require me to be physically connected to it. Take touchtel as an
example. If I try to send a message from touchtel but the from address is
gmail then touchtel will reject the message. Also, if I am not connected
physically to the touchtel dsl line the message is also rejected.
