iTunes is free and a perfectly good podcast aggregator and sound file manager. 
It doesn't require that you have an external device attached.

I listened to my 1st one last week & didn't even realize they were 
just mp3s. The one I caught was by the HTguys.com & they have a URLs 
to their podcasts so anyone could listen to them. They are also 
listed at Yahoo
