What is the best way to get rid of the disk overlay?
I won't give the long story but the HD I cloned in my grandson's computer got locked up in DOS when I ran Partition Magic.
It would not release no matter what.
A clean reboot took it back to running in DOS.
The only thing that worked was to use Seagate Tools and format.
Now before I reinstall everything I want to be back to plain vanilla.
Get rid of the overlay tool.

Will FDISK /MBR do that?
Should you run FDISK /MBR on a new HD anyway?
Do I have to go back to the plain FDISK?
Will a reformat do it?

Live and I hope learn.
Sam
