It seems you have enabled two different Contacts folders. Maybe through all
the importing you managed to import addresses twice, or perhaps a failed
attempt left another Contacts folder somewhere. Try this in Outlook:

1. Tools, E-mail Accounts
2. View or Change existing directories or address books... <Next>
3. Change
4. Remove both address books shown.
5. Close and Finish.
6. Exit Outlook, then restart Outlook
7. Find the Contacts folder you want listed, right-click, Properties,
Outlook Address Book tab, and click for "Show this folder as an E-mail
address book".

Hi Carl,

No. The e-mail addresses are not duplicated in the contact itself. I have 2
instances of the entry called contacts in the combo box I get when I hit
alt+. In the "to" field of a message. The combo box is labeled "show names
from the"

Is this what you mean?

Name Display Name E-Mail address Address Type
John Smith John Smith [EMAIL PROTECTED] SMTP
John Smith John Smith [EMAIL PROTECTED] SMTP
Gary Jones Gary Jones [EMAIL PROTECTED] SMTP
Gary Jones Gary Jones [EMAIL PROTECTED] SMTP

If so, it would seem your migration of contacts filled in the same E-mail
address twice for each contact (contacts may have up to 3 e-mail addresses).
The only solution is to visit each contact and remove the extra address.

Subject: Two instances of contacts in Microsoft Outlook 2003

Hi all,

I did a migration from Eudora to OE 2003. When I composed a message and hit
alt+. In the to field to get a list of contacts, I got an error to the
effect that no folder was associated addressbook. A google search took me to
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;319901&spid=2520&sid=global

I did the procedure twice and rebooted since nothing happened. Things began
to work after the reboot. However, I seem to have 2 contacts entries in the
folder combo box when I hit alt+. In the "to" field of a message. How do I
remove the duplicate contacts entry?
