Don -

I have never used Firefox/Mozilla for email but a few months ago I had had
Firefox (2 or 3 versions back) set as my default browser. I decided I liked
IE6/Maxthon better for browsing (still do) so tried to change my default
browser to that.

Long story short, FF would NOT relinquish its position as default and after
several days of screwing around with it, I finally totally uninstalled FF
and then set IE6/Maxthon as default with no problem. I subsequently
reinstalled FF, quite possibly a different version, but have never set it as
default for anything. No problems since, but I am not setting it as default
either, even as a test.

Don't know if you want to consider this, but I found that amputation was the
only cure... ;) I guess that as with any "work in progress" there will be an
occasional glitch in a release version (not that FF is the only one with
this problem!!)
