Am I supposed to burn all of the contents of the windows98
bootdisk(a 3 1/2" floppy) to that CDROM

NO !

the contents of the win98 folder to that CDROM

Yes.

stick it in the solo5300(that does not have a floppy
drive) and it will work like a regular bootdisk in a floppy drive??

If using Nero you tell it that you want to create a bootable CD & it'll ask for either a boot image or a floppy disk. You want to insert the 98 diskette in the drive & let Nero create it's own boot file for the CD.

When you boot this new CD it'll boot up as if it's booting from A:> but you'll access the win98 folder using another drive letter so once you boot up into DOS try different drive letters at the prompt until you find the right one. You may want to rename the win98 folder in your compilation to something unique so it's more quickly identifiable such as winders98 for when you start trying different drive letters.

Note: It's been so long since I made a bootable 98 cd that I may have forgot something but you can consult with the Nero help files tho for the anything add'l.
