If it's in use when in safe mode, then you've probably got spyware or other scumware on the system.
Try uninstalling the file sharing software to start with. Remove anything else you don't recognize as having added in Add/Remove Programs. -----Original Message----- From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jim Poer Sent: Friday, March 17, 2006 2:08 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: How to delete a file I tried Safe Mode and it did the exact same thing and yes it was P2P sharing, but the program is completely shut down. Thankx, I'll keep trying. It's not going to be in use when you boot into safe mode. If you're using P2P file sharing, it's expected that stuff you download will be made available for download by others from your machine. That's why it's in use. -----Original Message----- From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jim Poer Sent: Friday, March 17, 2006 1:59 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: How to delete a file Will not delete using either method. I tried going to MS Dos prompt, but that doesn't seem to work either. Any more ideas?? It keeps saying it is in use by someone or some program. Or, boot into safe mode, delete it there. It says that it is in use and cannot be deleted, but it is not, even after a fresh reboot, it does the same thing. How can I delete the file from my machine without using a windows app to do it?
