Just because a new system defaults to the lowest settings doesn't
mean the bios or the cpu are bad. Only the fine owners manual could
tell you that. If it were me I'd go to the either the cpu or mombo
manufacturer's website & find out what the voltages are suppose to be
for that particular CPU & then set the bios accordingly. If for some
reason the setting doesn't stick then you've got a problem which can
only be resolved by plugging in another compatible CPU that you know
works or plug the suspect CPU into a known working compatible mombo
to correctly ascertain which [CPU or mombo] is at fault.
FWIW "the probe" is Asus' diagnostic software that comes with each of
their mombos.
