I think you say below you were ripped off, and can prove it...
If so, rumor has it MS will help you. Up to giving you the OS
you paid for... It might "hurt" your case that they can't do anything
to the shop that screwed you, but I have not heard that was
necesssary... YMMV

I bought local three years ago.
The company had four shops in four local towns.
I authenticated.
When MS started the validation process, I failed.
The company was no more.
The owners went back to their own country, not USA.
I'm just waiting for Vista to come out and then I can buy the new OS.
Sometimes you try to play by the rules and you fail anyway!
