The MB is an Asus A8AE-LE and the specs on it are at: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&product=1824763&dlc= en&docname=c00496280
According to that page there IS a FD controller. I stopped bothering with those a few years ago but looks like it is there. Can't help you out on the Win 98 drivers. Probably the luck of the draw on that, since this hardware came out long after Win 98 had already been replaced several times. Guess one could always call tech support but they would probably want to know what Win 98 is... ;) - Bill Hatcher [EMAIL PROTECTED] - -----Original Message----- From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Rich Koziol Sent: Friday, March 24, 2006 10:28 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [WINHOME] Is this worth my time - PC buying Thanks Bill, This is hard to beat :-) How do they manage to make money on this? Chinese labor and components, I suppose. Since you've been around these models... is there a FD plug on the mobo? ATA controller? At this point perhaps it's matter of habbit, but I'd like to have a FD. I know a couple of friends who will snap these up. Few years back, I found them Pentium Pro 200MHz for the same price :-) The other curiosity is, if the on-board devices (sound, video, perhaps modem, NIC, etc.) would have drivers available for Win98se. Yes, I'm a diehard :-) -- ---------------------------------------- To Change your email Address for this list, send the following message: CHANGE WIN-HOME your_old_address your_new_address to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Note carefully that both old and new addresses are required.
