It does seem like it is lost. This is such a low level and early operation
I generally start it and go away for quite awhile. It takes sooo long to watch,
and is exceptionally boring - under anything remotely resembling normal
circumstances.

I am surprised you never got the prompt for (in my own words) a long or
quick (short?) format or something... I am sorry for the lack of MY detail
on those screens. I blow through them so fast I just select things and the words
don't even "register" the anymore... ( I sort of read the entire paragraph as
one
word - <grin>)

I never had an SATA drive (yet) and agree with Wayne that if you need
a driver for it you likely are missing some sort of prompt to add one.
The very error message you are getting is the type (one of many just like
that with a different numerical count upward) that I was worried about.
Without seeing it "in context" (or in person), I can't get a feel for if it is
"*just* hanging", or wandered off into the woods confused.
If I were you, since you have not gotten too far in this install, I would do
an IBM ZAP or IBM WIPE of the drive and start from a known good
condition... This has always backed me out of some sticky spots when
something happened and all I wanted was a clean slate...

I can't figure out the problem without being here and actually seeing it
since it is (hopefully) supposed to be doing something different. (?)

Have you used the HD manufacturers OWN utility to scan and verify
the surface if the drive? (Some call this a re-certification.)

As one of your original selections, I am assuming you told it to do the
long check, (they call it something else, but my name for it is very
descriptive).

No Choice it just asks - as usual - hit enter to install windows so I do as
usual.

Then is checks the Hdd even though its just formatted it (primary partition
NTFS)
