This the one that ran the memory test for 24 hours without stopping? Warranty? I'd try Asus support if there's any chance of getting a free replacement. Even if it's out of warranty they might make you a better deal than buying anything else.
You might also try removing and re-seating the processor on the off-chance there's an bad connection. The second time it hung while chkdsk was running and stopped at 29% it restarted but ended up in chkdsk again and this time it made it to 52% and hung, when restarted got the error no hd present went in to bios again but this time could not get it to locate the hd. Switched to backup computer to send this email and would like any ideas on what I should do. Will open case and reset bios and check cables, and try again. If it will stay running will format and re install XP Pro.
