If the disc seal has not been broken -- i.e., the CD hasn't been taken out of it's sleeve, only the outer box has been opened -- then the software should be returnable. So, it might not be too late for the OP. It may depend on where it was purchased.

Personally, I'd recommend doing a fresh install. It's a pain, but the end result is a clean and stable system. Just my $0.02 worth.
