Oops, my mistake. A typo. The resolution set on the camera is 2592x1944
(which is 5MP).

But the images are still only approximately 11"x14".

That's NOT the highest resoltion, multiply the 2 numbers together and you
get 3.1MP, not 5...

Yes they should, I think you need to RTFM or talk to Canon support.
