By your own admission you're not a typical user as you taught Fortran.

I don't think I actually taught Fortran -- mostly C and Z80 assembler.

But that doesn't prevent me from looking for stuff that would work for the typical PC user (like the "IT person" at my wife's work!)

I did install it. I had to make installation choices that I had no information 
about.

And, Wayne, why should an installer have to search the Internet to find detailed instructions on installing and using a piece of software? That stuff belongs on the site that provides the software.
There is even a section about firewalls & routers but of course some one has to read it 1st otherwise it's of no use.

Ah, but one has to find it first!
