I finished installing Windows Vista beta 2 build 5483 with some small issues with hardware drivers for my ATI AIW 9600, nVidia Nforce 2 mobo, HP Scanjet 4890 and my Netgear Wireless WG311T.
I downloaded the newest hardware drivers and managed to get the other hardware drivers to work buy going into Vista's control panel > System Performance > System > device manager. Selcting device . Right clicking device > update drivers for my WG311T, HP Scanjet 4890, Onboard USB 2.0 controller and SB Audigy 2.0. I circumvented the default startup setup.exe stub programs and used the main setup routines by executing them from the driver install cd's becuase the setup stubs would cause execution errors in Windows Vista and shutdown. This was done after updating all the core drivers in device manager. There was an issue with my ATI AIW 9600 so I downloaded the WIndows Vista driver for it from the ATI website which only has support for the core WDM driver inside of Catalyst. There's no support for the multi media center at this time. But other than that Windows Vista Beta 2 works fine and I like it. Its cool. It copies almost every aspect of the Mac X OS. As luck would have it I've already have x32 downloaded & x64 is downloading now between 400 & 500 KB while the DL Mgr states that I have 4 connections open so they can't be too awful busy right now. ----------+---------- Wayne D.
