Here is the reply she got from HP.
This is not a HP thing or a Dell thing, a Gateway thing, a Compaq thing, a
eMachines thing, a NEW thing or an OLD thing. This is a cheapskate tactic
often used by name brand (and butcher built white boxes) for over 10 years.
And that is not all they leave out or skimp on. How do I know? I have
diagnosed and evaluated all kinds of computers for over 8 years.
