Nonsense, there are risks with EVERY internet facing service that you have 
open to the public.  You can manage those risks, by having appropriate 
controls in place, but to say there is no risk, is just plain silly.  

If you have separate machine running in a dmz, then that reduces the risk to 
the main office network.  We have a good enterprise class router at this site 
that would allow setting this up to be a breeze, however we don't have any 
physical space into which to put another computer.

Exactly, the security and updates can be handled by someone else... I've got 
enough on my plate on a daily basis.

No realism, I've had to cleanup many networks after a hacker broke in via the 
ftp server (of both the unix and windows variety)
