3 hard drives, Windows on all, Windows stable on 2 out of 3.

Conclusion: The 3rd (unstable) drive has data corruption or is in the
process of failing.

I would start by removing the Romtec Trios and connect the unstable drive
directly, and see whether the behavior changes.

Behavior changes: You know that the Romtec Trios or cabling to/from is part
of the problem.

Behavior remains the same: Don't re-install Romtec yet. Boot slipstream
SP2 CD to Recovery Console, run CHKDSK /R, repeatedly, until nothing is
fixed. If you have to run it more than twice, the HDD is dying.

Hello

I am having problems with this machine again, it has been hard to
get started
and would hang on the windows splash screen. Sometimes it would take 15
tries
to get it into windows but now it will not start at all and just hang on
the
windows splash screen.
Tried to run chkdsk but it hangs before I can get it started, tried
a repair with
the windows disk (original and slipstreamed sp2) but it hangs at various
places
without getting to the repair option. My Barts disk does the same thing.
It does start with UBUNTU LIVE CD, and the SystemRescue CD 0.2.16
but cannot see the files. Knoppix 5.01 starts the computer and shows
all files
on the 80GB Maxtor drive but I don't know how to do anything with the files
other than open and view them.
This machine has a Romtec Trios Switch which makes the three
hds in it
look like 3 seperate computers, and the 2 other disks are working ok so the
computer is ok and it appears that this is a windows problem, but I
havent a
clue how to fix this problem.

Thank You Joe Harrison
