Yes'ish - (IMHO:- . . . . ....) The install of the various versions of office (at least from 97 on to 2003) will each go into separate locations drives, or directories, and the files that are put onto the OS drive (Program Files - Common - Windows main directory - win32 - and the entries placed in the registry detailing the installation, and each user's settings) are maintained as separate application installations.
You should, however ensure that the 'user options setup' for the various versions use different directories for their default file locations, user dictionaries, etc., and those are altered from the default before you install the next version. BUT OUTLOOK is all pervasive, so don't try to use more than 1 version in a system, and do not go back to an older version without serious thought, and adequate backup/restore facilities. AND The last office version to install will probably be set as the version that the OS associates to the various file types And the links associated with the windows - office update process will also be pointed to the last version installed. If you do get problems with fixes, then all you have to do is run the install process from the appropriate versions CD to change something, and that should fix the update links. I tend to use the send-to for pointing data files (xls, doc etc) at the right version or you can set the associations to be selectable from a list by not setting the 'always use' Then all you have to do is remember which files are at which version level CAVEAT (re 2007 etc.) Do not install Beta, and/or release candidate versions on an operational/production system JimB ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Poer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, August 11, 2006 5:03 PM Subject: Re: Office 2003 on different drive > So, does that mean that I will still be able to launch Outlook2000 from my C > drive and then launch Outlook2003 from my D drive and they each have their > own set of files?? > > -----Original Message----- > From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf > Of Kylde > Sent: Friday, August 11, 2006 12:01 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Office 2003 on different drive -- ---------------------------------------- To Change your email Address for this list, send the following message: CHANGE WIN-HOME your_old_address your_new_address to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Note carefully that both old and new addresses are required.
