Getting a bit Off topic: I recently installed Visual studio 2005 - and for some (Microsoft?) reason, despite specifying a different drive, most of it goes onto the OS partition - so that's probably another gig of C: used for that. and only half that on the specified drive
The other problem is that the updates, and backout files for the software fixes and updates gradually eat up space (I recently found 500Mb of uninstall on a win2K system - imaged the system, and deleted all the $NTUninstall* stuff) Also - I've found that the OS partition needs to have about 10GB of space to handle dl DVD's, plus about 3Gb for each user - workspace, and 500Mb for their profile, controls and other files/entries. I tend to avoid letting the pagefile go off of the boot partition - avoids problems when restoring the OS partition if it is all on the 1 drive, which is why I don't like the latest spin I came across in preinstalled systems - putting the entire user profile, of all users onto a different drive to the OS - so you have to backup/restore a pair of partitions or you have problems logging on as any user because of the stuff that's in the registry on the OS partition has to match some of the stuff in the user's profiles on the 'user' partition. But don't forget to set temp pagefile, clear out internet temp workspace, and lose the hibernate facility together with it's associated file before you take a ghost image.
