On the Rules and Alerts window click Options and export the rules. Normally your PST file contains messages and contacts, so no extra steps are needed beyond taking a copy fo the PST file. For practice, do a test migration of your mail to another user on your computer.

I want to take my e-mail with me. My dad has a computer where I will be able to check e-mail. I am using Microsoft Outlook 2003 as my e-mail client. How do I move the messages, contacts and message rules? I can pick up the *.pst file and export the contacts to ASCII text and import them on his computer but what about message rules? Do I need to copy the user profile or something? My home machine and my dad's computer are running fully patched versions of Windows 2000 professional. He however is using Microsoft Outlook 2002 I believe while I am using Outlook 2003. By the way, I was unable to come up with much when I searched the Internet. I got a lot of information on roaming user profiles but I am not in a networked environment so that does not apply.
