Okay, just installed a Dlink DWL-G520 wifi nic in my GF's Win2k machine,
installed the latest driver from the Dlink website along with the WPA
supplicant from their site. I then setup the dlink wifi s/w to use my wpa-psk

with 39 random characters, punctuation and numbers. At which point the
software crashes with an error, restarting it gives the same error and it
won't run again with uninstalling/reinstalling it.

Using the McAffee WPA assistant software runs with the key but is unable to
connect to the AP. My laptop running XP Pro with an SMC wifi nic has no
problems connection nor do several linux based devices I have.

No need to go into the relative security levels of different wpa-psk key
lengths, I am aware of them, this key was created some time ago and can't
easily be changed due to the number of devices relying on it.

The router in question is a Linksys WRT54GS ver. 1 or 2 running DD-WRT
firmware. There is also a second GS running dd-wrt in bridge mode which also
works without issue.

Any suggestions other than changing the preshared key?
