More precisely, the read-only attribute is meaningless for folders. When
you display "properties" for a folder, what you see for the read-only
attribute is a three-state checkbox in its third state. It's shaded with
no checkmark in it, and it's trying to tell you that this attribute
doesn't apply here. Admittedly, it doesn't communicate this very well.
