Exactly correct. FYI and FWIW, I never use the MS search page to find things in the MSKB. Google works much better. In this case:
http://www.google.com/search?q=read-only+folder+checkbox leading to match #1: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=326549 "Unlike the Read-only attribute for a file, the Read-only attribute for a folder is typically ignored by Windows, ..." Even if every file in the directory is not read-only, the box for the directory will be gray. (I have a directory on my disk that contains a single non-read-only file. The directory's read-only box is gray.) It's that way because the attribute does not apply to directories. Unfortunately I can't find anything on the Microsoft site that really addresses this issue one way or the other. -- Tim Slattery [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html -- ---------------------------------------- WIN-HOME Archives: http://PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM/archives/WIN-HOME.html Contact the List Owner about anything: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html
