Don't get your hopes up... :) While this announcement might make a lot
of people feel good or whatever, it's really nothing special...
actually it's nothing at all. They had a similar program for Exchange
5.5 last year which reportedly cost megabucks for the handful of corps
that took advantage of it. It will not benefit the average user - or
apply to retail copies of software - Bob will not be covered because
corps didn't use it. :)
"Microsoft on Monday said it would sell custom support agreements for
legacy products, enabling companies in most cases to extend service
contracts for as long as they need to."
Now... if perchance someone does get lucky and MS comes calling... you
should demand a 6 figure salary because that is likely what the corps
are paying for legacy support. :) (over their normal support costs)

Just be sure to be around when MS comes-a-calling. I bet we (us
old-timers that have seen it all, or most of it anyway) could
stonewall them for a 7 digit salary, well maybe 6 digits and
"perks". :D
