I am still wrestling with the SonicWall (TZ170) and the FTP server. I now have it so that the outside computer can talk to the Server software, but the Server reports that it "Could not send reply."

BTW view the SonicWall log to see what, if anything, is being blocked.

If the SonicWall log indicates outgoing ftp traffic is being blocked, then the SonicWall device is probably misconfigured for ftp traffic.

If the SonicWall log indicates outgoing ftp traffic is not being blocked, then the trouble is probably at the other end.

If the SonicWall log indicates no outgoing ftp traffic, then the ftp server might be misconfigured for ftp traffic.

I do not know if the SonicWall firewall logs allowed, as well as disallowed, outgoing traffic, or can be configured to do so. I suppose I could RTFM. :D Our Cisco PIX firewall can show both, and it helps in troubleshooting where the problem may be.

This does not cover any ISP firewall or traffic policies that might exist between the two end points however.
